Mary Catherine Richardson is currently working and living in Staunton Virginia. She grew up in the Shennadoah Valley between the Blue Ridge and Alleghany Mountains. For five years she lived in Chicago Illinois where she received her BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She worked at the premier glassblowing studio in Chicago called Chicago Hot Glass. There she was an instructor and working artist. She has also taught classes at OxBow School of Art in Michigan. She has studied at Penland School of Crafts in Penland NC, OxBow School of Art, and Corning in Corning, NY. Recently she has started a gallery and public works space in Staunton Virginia called Spectrum Studios. This space acts as a working studio and a place for the local creative community to have an outlet and propose their own ideas.
